In the colorful world of light and shadow, each space embodies the unique lifestyle attitude and taste of its owner. During a recent visit by the KIMU team to Fairy Pai's new home, HOME叄, she shared her insights into home design and the cherished moments in her life.
The style of a space can reflect one's lifestyle attitudes and values at different stages. Fairy Pai mentioned that she enjoys various interior design styles. Therefore, when given the opportunity to acquire property, she showcases different styles based on her current preferences and mood. "Change and growth are something I care about in my life, so being able to have different looks and preferences all along the way is actually pretty awesome." Contrasting with the modern and chic feel of the new HOME叄, which features black, gold, and brown as the main colors, her previous residence was reminiscent of the ambiance of European design hotels, with white, blue-green, and pink tones, capturing the emotional resonance of one of her trips to Europe. Fairy Pai's openness and flexibility to embrace new experiences and adjust her lifestyle based on what she sees and hears allow her to continuously grow and progress.
A design masterpiece for creating versatile spatial layers.
The New Old Divider by KIMU is a chosen furniture piece for HOME叄's interior design from the early stages. "It's stylish yet elegant. Unlike typical dividers that focus mainly on patterns, the New Old Divider is all about design," remarked Fairy Pai. Wanting to maintain a spacious and comfortable atmosphere throughout her home, Fairy Pai didn't hesitate much and decided to place it in the master bedroom after a brief discussion with the designer. Despite dividing the sunlight daybed area and the living room, the design of the New Old Divider with its fan-shaped cutouts allows for a sense of continuity in the space. This unobstructed design aligns perfectly with her décor preferences, making it an ideal fit for her needs and tastes.
The magical moments of light and shadow
Stepping into the foyer of HOME叄, we were greeted by a soft cascade of natural light. The expansive glass windows generously invited sunlight into the interior, seamlessly blending the outside world with the space within. Fairy Pai expressed her desire for light and shadow to be focal elements in the space's design right from the start of the renovation process. Thus, HOME叁 boasts abundant natural light, complemented by carefully curated indirect lighting. This not only enhances the spatial depth but also allows Fairy Pai to experience the ever-changing charm of light and shadow with each passing day. "One of my favorite spots has to be the kitchen. As the sun sets, its warm glow illuminates the floral arrangement on the kitchen island, casting beautiful shadows onto the sleek black cabinets. It's truly a magical moment that I cherish!"
Scent plays an essential role in personalizing a space and is one of the simplest yet most impactful ways to do so. In Fairy Pai's home, scent isn't just a part of the ambiance; it symbolizes the shared life of family and pets. The choice of DUO Candle Warmer was driven by the presence of pets in the household. DUO offers both safety and convenience, eliminating concerns about incomplete combustion. Fairy Pai even humorously noted one of its impressive features: "It can keep your fried chicken warm!"
Chic in appearance, oriental in spirit.
During this visit, we prepared several classic lighting fixtures by KIMU along with other design pieces in the space, adding a touch of unexpected charm to the sleek modernity of HOME叄. "When I first saw the Nigiri Floor Lamp, I thought it was not only light-colored but also very Japanese, and it seemed like it wouldn't match our home style. But unexpectedly, after placing it, it brought out a surprising accent! The living room became more composed and atmospheric, which amazed me!"
In the space created by the semi-translucent design of the New Old Divider, whether paired with a standing lamp or a lounge chair, it's the perfect spot for everyday 'me time' moments. In this intimate corner, Fairy Pai can completely relax, away from the hustle and bustle of the outside world. Reading, contemplating, or simply closing her eyes and immersing herself in the serene atmosphere. And the soft illumination of the standing lamp creates a warm, tranquil ambiance, making this corner an ideal place for her to find inspiration and inner peace. Fairy Pai vividly describes it with a culinary metaphor: "Clearly, it has a chic and sleek appearance, but it also has an oriental sense in its soul. This strong yet harmonious contrast should be like the pairing of smoked salmon with pickled beans!"
In every corner of HOME叄, we can feel Fairy Pai's pursuit of beauty and her love for life. It's not just a living space but also a manifestation of her lifestyle and taste. Through light, shadow, fragrance, and furniture choices, she has created a charming home where every detail exudes her unique personality and taste.
